Before the introduction of BerryMate™ harvest lugs, farmers were buying and assembling dividers into standard harvest totes. The dividers are used to indicate a full tote (at 510 cubic inches) while harvesting blueberries and other fruit. In addition, the dividers ensure the fresh picked berries will not get crushed when the lug is stacked or nested. To nest a BerryMate™ tote for storage or empty return shipment turn it 180 degrees from the stacking position. There are position aids (small raised bumps) on one lip so one can nest without looking at the lug. (For a completely non-nesting BerryMate™ tote see our styles page.) With the dividers molded in, the added cost of separate dividers and labor to install and maintain have been eliminated.

The BerryMate™ harvest totes are designed with increased air vents consisting of vertical slots and lower non-stacking (long) sides resulting in “Cool Flow” air vents allowing your product to be cooled quicker than existing wooden and standard plastic lugs.

All BerryMate™ harvest lugs are produced from the finest FDA approved high impact thermoplastic materials. UV stabilizers are also added to help prevent color fading. BerryMate™ containers are washable, mildew resistant and are 100% recyclable.
